What is Global Minds?

Global Minds is a weekday preschool that also operates as an after school language learning facility for children in grades K-12th.   In our preschool program, our experienced, caring teachers primarily focus on speaking Chinese, Spanish or French since it is the natural first component of any language. Through demonstration, repetition, group, individual and interactive play, Global Minds makes becoming bilingual an easy, fun, and playful experience!

For the after school Mandarin Chinese program, we teach traditional characters, and pinyin (the romanization of Chinese).  It is our belief that Chinese has become a relevant language universally, and will continue to become more important in the future.

We also have developed courses for different levels of Spanish and French.  These two languages are the most studied linguistic courses offered in America in middle school, high school and at the collegiate level.  They offer up a myriad of opportunities in the fields of business, translation and interpretation for those who can develop them as a fluent second language.

We offer one-on-one and small group classes, limited to 7 students.  This allows our teachers to cater to each individuals’ weaknesses and strengths. At Global Minds, we believe that learning another language does not just allow one to speak with others, but it also helps one to understand other cultures, values and customs.

Our Staff

Adam Maynard, Global Minds’ Director, spent many years teaching English as a foreign language in Tanzania, South Korea, Thailand, China and Taiwan. He returned to Arizona with a vision to bring his enthusiasm for teaching and foreign languages home; the result is Global Minds World Languages Preschool & Academy. With his extensive experiences in teaching and studying foreign languages, Adam has developed a curriculum that is educational, fun, fluid and painless for his students to achieve their goal of being bilingual.

Why We Teach Global Languages?

At Global Minds we believe that monolingualism is the illiteracy of the 21st century.  Learning a second language is beneficial for a multitude of reasons.   Learning a world language not only allows you to understand another culture and communicate with over hundreds of millions to a billion people, it also enhances your critical thinking and problem solving abilities.   Tests have proven that children who speak a second language score higher on standardized tests. The earlier a child learns a second language, the easier a time they will have with the languages sentence structure, inflection, tone and other language components.

The three languages of Mandarin, Spanish, and French are spoken in North America, Central and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia.  Mastering any one of these three languages allows for countless job opportunities in multiple fields of business in the future.
